Dr. Raphael von Hoensbroech

Artistic and managing director Concert Hall Dortmund
Raphael von Hoensbroech

Dr. Raphael von Hoensbroech is the artistic director and managing director of the Concert Hall Dortmund. As one of only four German houses of the European Concerthall Organization, it is one of the leading concert halls in Europe.

After studying musicology, philosophy, and debt and copyright law, Dr. von Hoensbroech first worked for eight years as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, where he gained insight into quite a few corporate and management cultures in the business world. He then went to the Concerthall Berlin as Managing Director in 2013.

Dr. von Hoensbroech was also active as a conductor and violinist for several years and therefore also knows the topic of leadership from a musical perspective. For more than ten years, he has been bringing together his insights from different worlds for executives in workshops and lectures.
Engagements are possible as keynote and as workshop with or without live orchestra as well as online (Masterclass or Virtual Training).

His entertaining keynotes are accompanied by interactive elements involving the entire audience and illustrative video clips of various conductors at work. These are fascinating stories, reflecting the influence of famous orchestra leaders.

Leaders become part of a professional orchestra without playing an instrument themselves. Participants experience first-hand what makes for good and bad leadership and observe the impact of credibility, how the conductor turns notes into music with just a few words.

In his workshops, Dr. von Hoensbroech works with leading ensembles, such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the German Chamber Orchestra Berlin, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and many others.

He presents in German and English.
