Christian Lindner
2021 - 2024 Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Germany
Christian Lindner is one of the top speakers in Germany. He provides his audience with insights into economic and political developments in Germany, Europe and the world. He combines leadership experience in politics with economic policy expertise and entrepreneurial understanding. He draws his current assessments from his experience as finance minister of the world's third-largest economy (2021-2024) and his dense network in governments, business and academia.
He is one of the most prominent advocates of free-market policies, strong capital markets, private provision with shares and stability-orientated public finances. Earlier than others, he promoted the opportunities of the digital transformation and argued in favour of a new start-up culture. As a politician, he acted like an entrepreneur who takes risks. At the end of his career, he renounced the highest offices of state in favour of his convictions.
As German Federal Minister of Finance, he initiated the consolidation of the federal budget after the coronavirus pandemic, strengthened Germany as a financial centre and designed an economic turnaround.
In the European Union, Lindner played a key role in shaping the current fiscal rules and the roadmap to the Capital Markets Union. As Chairman of the Finance Ministers of the Group of Seven (G7, the most important industrialised countries with liberal-democratic values at the time of its founding), he played a key role in shaping the crisis response to the Russian attack on Ukraine in 2022.
Lindner was a member of the German Bundestag for almost 25 years and Chairman of the German Free Democratic Party (FDP) for eleven years. He was the architect of his party's comeback and can look back on a decade of successful elections. During this time, he gained extensive experience in the management and change of organisations and communication. Today he reports on the dos and don'ts.
Lindner studied political science and constitutional law in Bonn, worked as an entrepreneur before entering politics and is a Major in the German Armed Forces Reserve. He is married and has one child.
He is a dynamic, entertaining and inspiring speaker who reaches his audience in a free speech.
He uses the full range of rhetorical stylistic devices and convinces without omitting content with humorous punchlines, short anecdotes and vivid and easy-to-understand language. He skilfully and fairly highlights differences to political competitors without defaming them.
His presentation languages are German and English.
