Dr. Carl Naughton
Business psychologist, researcher, author
As a keynote speaker, Dr. Carl Naughton increases the future competence of people and companies for dealing with the new and shaping the future. The curiosity researcher provides valuable impulses for transformations based on the 4 OPEN MINDS: curious mind, courageous mind, adaptable mind and autonomous mind.
With his work at the interface of psychology and business practice as well as his expertise in mental mechanisms, he enriches the Frankfurter Rundschau as a guest columnist, the managermagazin and the Harvard Business Manager as an author of studies and, as a TV expert on ARD's Update Wirtschaft, new work efforts as well as the leadership mindset of managers. Always with him: a strong dose of courage for the future, with which the transition from having ideas to implementing ideas succeeds. The lecturer in Business & Leadership Psychology at FOM/Frankfurt is a member of the Curiosity Council of the technology company Merck and conducts research with George Mason University in Virginia and the Northern Business School in Hamburg. As a member of the Society for Applied Business Psychology and the American Psychological Association, he knows how to impart relevant, applicable knowledge with a lot of subtle humor.
Futurologist Matthias Horx, founder and owner of the Zukunftsinstitut , writes about him:
"Carl Naughton has cracked the future paradox. It consists of the fact that we actually want the better, the 'tomorrow'. But our MIND always pulls us into a dark cellar; a cell in which we then make ourselves comfortable. No shouts of change or cries of motivation can help against this. Instead, we need information about our FUTURE MIND - about our inner future competence."
Dr. Naughton founded the OPEN MIND LAB in 2005. The aim: to transform change. The Lab conducts research and at the same time ensures its transfer into practice. According to the motto "You can only change what you can measure (otherwise you won't know if and what you have changed)." the Lab proceeds with scientifically based assessments and measurement tools for professional curiosity, future courage and adaptive intelligence. Building on this, programs, interventions and cultural changes are developed and implemented.
In this way, the Open Mind Lab meets current challenges in the manufacturing industry, in industrial production and in sales. Its services range from the production of "focused attention" interventions for the automotive industry to psychological support for digital changes and the development of managers and teams to achieve greater adaptive intelligence. This project diversity and the associated learnings are the DNA for the Open Mind Lab and a good start for an invigorating impulse.
