Juan Verde is a Spanish globally recognized strategist, social entrepreneur sustainability advocate, and advisor to presidents, prime ministers, Fortune 500 executives, and global institutions. Verde advocates for climate change action in the form of a transition to a green economy. He addresses this not an ethical or moral issue, but from a business and competitiveness standpoint, discussing the challenges and opportunities posed by climate change and a more sustainable economy.
He has extensive experience in the political world, having worked on US-President Joe Biden (member of the President's Export Council), US-President Barack Obama, US-President Bill Clinton, US-Vice President Al Gore, and Hillary Clinton’s campaigns, among others.
During the 2012 campaign, Juan Verde served as International Co-Chair for the Obama campaign, where he developed and implemented a strategy to mobilise over six million American citizens residing outside of the United States. An effort he revived on behalf of the Biden (2020).
During President Obama’s first term, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia at the United States Department of Commerce. He was appointed by President Obama to lead the department’s efforts in solving trade policy and market access issues facing U.S. firms seeking to grow their business operations in the region.
He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. In 2012, he was elected to the Alumni Board of Directors at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Boston University and has completed post-graduate business studies at Georgetown University and Tufts University.
Juan Verde provides business and political advice on strategy, market expansion, sustainability and globalization to governments, institutions and corporations in the U.S., Latin America and Europe.
He is a member of the board of directors and Vice Chairman of Volcan Compañía Minera (leading mining company in Latin America), founder and President of the U.S. consultancy firm Alamo Solutions (advises governments and corporations) and of the The Advanced Leadership Foundation (focused on training next-generation global leaders).
