International renowned Czech economist and adviser to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic
Dr. Tomas Sedlacek is a renowned Czech economist. He is chief macroeconomist at the Czechoslovak Trade Bank (COSB) and one of the 15 members of NERV, an advisory body to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic set up in 2009 to tackle financial crises and to assist with the rotating presidency of the EU. He co-designed a macroeconomic package which became a vital inspiration for the economic policy of the current and previous Czech governments. A convinced European citizen, the Yale Economic Review named him one of the "Young Guns: 5 Hot Minds in Economics".

After receiving his doctorate from Charles-University Prague he became advisor to the former President Vaclav Havel, a position he held until 2003. Between 2004 and 2006 he led the task of reducing the budget deficit and to reform the Czech tax system. His best-selling book "The Economics of Good and Evil" (2012 - German Business Book Award), in which he shows how economics is woven out of history, myth, religion and ethics, made him internationally known. In 2009 Tomas received the Wald Press Award and the Financial Times dedicated him numerous detailed recensions. He is a regular columnist and frequent commentator on public affairs and global business issues.
